Chapter 422: Capture the Cat (I)

The sky was adorned with a rainbow of colors shooting out from that weird sun. Zhao Yao couldn’t help but shake his head at this scene. All of a sudden, a gate appeared out of nowhere as Zhao Yao disappeared into his dimensional belly.

Zhao Yao’s eyes glanced across his mission panel and he realized that he had yet to complete the mission even though he had already met all the supercats back in his apartment in the real world.

“I guess most people are still clueless that this world is nothing but an extension of their imagination, a part of their dream state. In that case, my mission remains the same – find my remaining suupercats and kill everyone living in this world to transport them back to the real world.”

Zhao Yao’s fingers were running through his hair when a thought suddenly popped into his head, “Do you know where Dust Ball, Ares, and Red Packet are hiding at?”

Zhao Yao was inundated by a sea of shaking heads. This was the first time the supercats had gathered together since arriving in this dream world. However, they did share the common vague memory that everyone had left Zhao Yao’s apartment.

Suddenly, Sphynx Cat began to lick the corner of his lips before muttering, “I do have some idea as to where Ares and gang are hiding.”

Moments later, Sphynx Cat and Zhao Yao had re-appeared at a bustling street along Jiangmen City with Zhao Yao trailing immediately behind Sphynx Cat, “How did you even learn about their whereabouts?”

Sphynx Cat replied matter-of-factly, “I was with them the moment I arrived in this dream world.” Suddenly, a whiff of familiar scent rushed into his nose, confirming the route.

Look of suspicion and doubt appeared on Zhao Yao’s face as he sneered, “Are you sure? I don’t want to spend the rest of the day looking for them in vain.”

“Stop complaining! I told you that I remembered! Anyway, we are almost there already. It should be around that corner.”

Half an hour later, the duo continued to linger around that same spot as Sphynx Cat continued tracking that familiar scent. However, Zhao Yao had already stopped in his tracks. A monstrous object, resting in the middle of the road had caught his eye, “What the hell is that?”

Sphynx Cat slid him a disdainful glare and commented, “Isn’t that just a regular transit elevated bus? Haven’t you been on one before?” Evidently, an extended stay in the dream world had distorted the individual’s perception of the world.

“Your perception of the world gets increasingly skewed as you spend more time in here. This means I have no time to waste.” Zhao Yao was left speechless, “However, this transit elevated bus seems rather familiar ... don’t tell me he was the one who created it.”

The monstrous object lying in the middle of the road looked too futuristic to be real. The vehicle was at least six meters tall, towering over your normal cars and vans. However, there was a huge hollow gap beneath its chassis, allowing all vehicles to whizz under it. This was the project which Xiao Ming had invested in previously. I guess it finally took off in the dream world.

As expected, a photograph of Xiao Ming was printed on the back of the vehicle. Xiao Ming was smartly dressed in his Canali suit, sporting his most radiant smile. He even had a cat in his arms.

“How narcissistic! Which person would even want their face printed on this monstrosity? And that cat...” Zhao Yao’s eyes squinted into a hard line as he recognized that cat from the picture, “So that’s where Red Packet has been hiding.”

...

Perched on top of Jiangmen City’s beautiful skyline was the tallest skyscraper. In it stood Xiao Ming dressed in his bathrobes with a bottle of champagne in his hands. From there, he had the perfect view of the city all to himself.

“This is spectacular.” A broad smile stretched across Xiao Ming’s face. Memories of him turning his transit elevated bus project from a dream into reality flooded his mind. Now, he was a multi-millionaire sitting on his transportation throne. That warm, fuzzy feeling fluttered through him everytime he thought about it, “With a new line opening tomorrow, the company’s stock will immediately skyrocket, turning me into the richest man in the world!”

Red Packet was sunbathing on his exquisite Fabio leather sofa when his claws accidentally tore a hole in it.

“Hmph, if I was in a regular household, my owner would have killed me. However, I’m the pet of the richest man alive. What is a Fabio sofa to me? Nothing! Absolutely nothing!”

The pair of them was blissfully immersed in their dreams when Xiao Ming noticed a chilling presence in his vicinity. He opened his eyes to see the reflection of Zhao Yao inching towards him, “You ...”

“It’s time to wake up!” Zhao Yao roared as the deflective field tore through Xiao Ming’s skin and crushed his vitals to pieces.

“Zhao Yao!” Red Packet’s scream echoed throughout that extraordinary apartment. However, his escape had failed the moment Zhao Yao picked him off the ground before tossing him into the belly.

“Alright, just go and help me look for Ares and the rest.”

The screams did not subside after he got thrown into the belly, “Murder! Murder! Zhao Yao killed a person!”

Meanwhile, Matcha, Elizabeth, Airplane and Uncle Egg were all engrossed in a game of bridge, completely indifferent to Red Packet’s scream. Elizabeth spoke slowly but surely, “What’s so strange about Zhao Yao killing someone?”

Red Packet could not believe the words echoing in his head, “Murder! He murdered a living person! And it’s a person we all know! I knew it! I knew he was the devil! He has been hiding all this while! Now, he’s unleashing his true self! We’re dead! We’re all dead! Nothing can stop him!”

Meanwhile, Xiao Ming had opened his eyes to a scene of a regular KFC restaurant. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Xiao Ming could only sigh in despair as he grumbled, “So it was all a dream? And I couldn’t even become the richest man in a dream! I am hopeless! Completely useless!”

...

In an alley approximately 50 meters away from the bank stood Ares with his head squashed into a pair of stockings. With his voice muffled, he instructed, “Everyone ready? Our livelihood will be dependent on the outcome of today’s mission.”

Lucifer, Fūjin, and Rakshasa stood by his side as their heads nodded along to each instruction uttered by Ares. They had disguised using the exact same black stockings.

Only Gaia was staring at a phone mounted on a selfie stick as he explained, “Hi everyone! We won’t be streaming our gameplay today! Instead, we will be robbing a bank! I’m sure none of you have ever seen it before, so please enjoy!”

Ares’s body locked up with rage when he heard Gaia’s voice echoing in his head, “Gaia, what the hell are you doing?”

Gaia retorted, “Are you blind? Obviously, I’m live streaming! I know that I’m the strongest and most skilled League of Legend player to ever walk on the surface of Earth. However, I must do my part to maintain my fan base. Constant interaction is the key! Hence, I’ll be doing more of this in the future!” Gaia noticed the skyrocketing number of viewers and was overwhelmed with excitement, “Hey, look! Everyone’s watching us! We’re gonna be famous!”

Ares retorted angrily, “But we are robbing a god d*mn bank! Who even records themselves committing a crime?” Ares immediately slapped the phone against the ground and lectured, “No more bullshit from you! I expect professionalism throughout this entire mission! Understood?”

“Tsk.” Gaia scoffed before sweeping his head around.

Suddenly, Fūjin tapped on Ares’s back and asked, “Bro, none of us can drive. From what I’ve seen in the movies, we need a driver to help us escape after our job is done.”

Rakshasa added on, “Stupid dumb dumb! Who even uses cash in this day and age! We’ll obviously ask them to transact using Alipay!”

“R*tards!, I told you to be professional! How can we use Alipay?” Ares roared as he slapped against their face, “There is a god d*mn daily transaction cap in Alipay! We can’t possibly use that!”

Fūjin’s eyes were brimming with admiration as he muttered, “You are a genius! Only a genius is able to anticipate that!”

“You don’t say? If not for my wit, how would I have ruled over this piece of land? If not for me, all of you would have been thrown behind bars, eating your prison food!” Ares eyeballed the cats in stockings as he continued, “Once inside, Fūjin will be responsible the hostage situation. After stashing all the money in our bags, we will escape using Gaia’s power ... Gaia!” What the hell are you doing?”
