Chapter 548: Ranch!
Early the next morning, Zhou Chao noticed that outside was covered in a vast expanse of white snow. The entire Irkutsk had been dyed white.
“Boss, the weather here is really strange. It was fine yesterday, but how come it’s snowing when we woke up?” Lin Wu couldn’t help but shiver as he spoke.
“After all, this is Siberia, and it’s almost October now. The weather is bound to gradually get colder. It’s quite normal,” Zhou Chao said as he put on the down jacket he bought yesterday.
“I still feel more comfortable back home. It’s really too cold here. Luckily, the hotel has heater.”
“At this time, it’s still okay, not too cold. If it’s winter, you’ll know what real cold is,” Zhou Chao said. He had previously learned that temperatures in the Irkutsk area start to drop slowly from October, and in winter, the temperature can drop to over minus 4.0 degrees Celsius.
Lin Wu looked at Zhou Chao pitifully and said, “Boss, I don’t want to stay here for long. Let’s finish our work and go back soon.”
Just as Zhou Chao was about to speak, they heard a light knock on the hotel room door.
Lin Wu quickly walked over to open the door, and Lev’s robust figure appeared before him.
“Boss, good morning,” Lev said respectfully in a somewhat unfluent Huaxia, but the voice coming from his robust mouth made Zhou Chao’s ears buzz.
Zhou Chao nodded lightly. “Come in.”
Lev walked in briskly, holding a paper bag in his hand. “Boss, I bought some snacks on the way. Just make do with them.”
Zhou Chao didn’t hesitate to accept the paper bag, and upon opening it, he found some grilled meat sandwiches and hot milk inside.
“Everyone, come sit down. Let’s have a simple meal. We’ll have something better at the farm for lunch,” Zhou Chao waved to Lin Wu and the others, and he took a big bite of a sandwich.
After tasting a few bites, Zhou Chao felt that the sandwich was indeed quite good. Compared to the ones sold in the domestic market, it was even better in terms of taste.
After breakfast, Zhou Chao and his companions didn’t linger at the hotel. They packed their luggage and got into the Hummer that had been waiting outside the door, heading towards Listvyanka Town.
Due to the light snow, they drove slowly all the way. The road from Irkutsk to Listvyanka Town ran along the riverbank, adding a touch of beauty to the journey.
Listvyanka Town was only a few dozen kilometers away from Irkutsk City. Due to the snowfall, it took about an hour and a half to arrive at the town.
Listvyanka Town had a small population of just over 20,000 people. There were two hospitals, four schools, and various leisure facilities in the town. Due to the millions of tourists who visit here every year, the town’s facilities are quite comprehensive.
When Zhou Chao and his group arrived at the town, the snow had stopped, and even the sky had cleared up.
“Boss, it seems like a good sign. It stopped snowing as soon as we arrived outside the town.”
Zhou Chao glanced at Lin Wu and chuckled. “I didn’t expect you to be so good at flattery.”
Lin Wu’s happy face instantly froze.
Zhou Chao didn’t pay it any mind. After briefly admiring the town’s architecture, he decided to wait a couple of days before exploring further. He instructed Lev to inform the lead car to head straight to the ranch.
The ranch was not far from Listvyanka Town, only a few kilometers away. After about a 10-minute drive, Zhou Chao and his group arrived at the ranch.
Zhou Chao looked at the prominent sign on the ranch gate and whispered, “Clear Spring Ranch.”
The entire ranch covered an area of almost 20,000 acres, roughly equivalent to 30,000 standard basketball courts or 186 soccer fields. As for the specific size, Zhou Chao didn’t have a concrete concept in his mind, after all, there were mountains, water, and grasslands.
Zhou Chao took a quick glance at his ranch, which was located close to the shores of Lake Baikal. The ranch appeared to have only three or four exquisite wooden houses and a villa. It seemed they were built earlier, and in the distance, some wooden structures could faintly be seen.
Just as he was about to enter, Zhou Chao saw three or four young men coming out of the ranch gate.
“Hello, this is a private ranch. No visitors allowed!” one seemingly leading young man from Huaxia exclaimed loudly.
Zhou Chao glanced at Lin Wu, who understood and got out of the car, heading directly towards the group of young men.
The leading man looked at Lin Wu’s somewhat familiar face as he approached. He furrowed his brows slightly and called out uncertainly, “Brother Wu?” “Yeah, I’m Lin Wu. Are you guys sent by Director Ling from back home? What’s your name?”
“I’m Chen Nan. Our team was recently sent by Director Ling to take charge of security here at the ranch. Has the boss arrived?” Chen Nan asked excitedly. He knew Lin Wu had always been with the boss, so if Lin Wu was here, it meant the boss was here too.
Lin Wu nodded with a smile. “The boss is in the car behind. Open the gate, we’re all on the same team.”
Chen Nan glanced at the convoy and immediately signaled his men to open the ranch gate. The convoy then drove into the ranch.
Watching the burly men getting off the cars, seemingly armed, Chen Nan couldn’t help but exclaim inwardly, “I didn’t expect the boss’ influence to be so strong even abroad.”
