Chapter 140: Hide,Seek and Defend
"Research?" Xavier mused. "What kind of research?"
"A research to deal with Philoid," Damien replied as he pushed open the door of the small shack that was a bit far from the main mansion. "I don\'t think the healers here have a spell to deal with syphilis; since that is the case, I want to try something."
"Can you treat syphilis?" Xavier\'s eyes popped out as he exclaimed. His voice echoed in the silent shack.
"Not yet," Damien placed the giant block of cheese. The only way he could think of dealing with syphilis was to create penicillin. However, there were three big obstacles in front of him.
Firstly, he needed to get as many samples as possible to generate citric acid.
Secondly, he needed to find a way to sterilise and extract the mould.
Lastly, he needed a fermentation tank.
And unfortunately for him, he had neither of these three things.
But Damien did not want to stay still and wait for an opportunity to present itself in front of him.
"Lord Damien," Maui and Thalia returned with the melon as well as the citrus drinks that Damien asked them to bring.
They entered the shack, and Maui looked at the poor spread in front of him and said, "Lord Damien, did you lose all the money that you received from the mission? How come you are eating such things?"
Damien rolled his eyes; he leaned down and flicked Maui\'s forehead before saying, "Who says that this is for eating? This is to grow mould."
"Why would you grow mould?" Maui was stupefied. Though cheese was not a good thing, there was no need for him to rot it.
"You will know soon," Damien said to Maui as he left the things in the open. He was going to return to the shack after three or four days.
"What did you say?" Damien looked at Gina, who was smiling at him.
"I told you that Master Godric arranged for beast games," Gina pointed to the large forest behind her. "He must have told you that he is trying to train you, right? Thus, this game is something that is for you to train."
He was so busy studying the mould that was growing that he completely forgot that he was supposed to train.
Damien raised his head and looked at the beastmen, who looked way bigger and stronger than him. One of them stepped towards Gina and Damien who were standing outside the forest and questioned, "Gina, are you sure? Did Lord Godric really allow him to join in the beast games? Is he not afraid of him getting torn into pieces?"
"I will suggest that you hold back," Gina warned the man. "If you go too far like the last time, Warren, I am afraid that you will lose the chance to win the prize and you will also drag your team with you."
Warren touched his nose and walked away.
"There is a prize?" Damien asked.
"Indeed," Gina nodded. "Why do you think so many beastmen are willing to join this game? It\'s because the reward is a vial of gorgon lion\'s blood. You might not know this, but this blood can help with their cultivation. Thus, not only do they fight—they fight quite cruelly."
"And yet you want me to join this game?" Damien laughed dryly. "I am touched by the care."
Gina smiled at him as she patted him on the shoulder.
Damien watched her leave and frowned when he realised that Gina was actually sitting out of this game.
Soon, Lord Godric walked to the training ground.
He said in a loud and booming voice, "Alright, brats, calm down. I will call the Hiders, and the seekers can step back."
One by one he called the names of beastmen who walked over with a resigned expression. Damien watched them tie a bandana on their heads and was just wondering what they were used for when
"Damien!"
Stunned, he raised his head and walked over to where Lord Godric was standing.
"You will be a hider," Lord Godric told him as he handed him a red bandana. "Remember to keep this on your head as long as possible. I will wish you luck."
"Ahaha! Old man, you want a broken beast man to join in the games?" Lexiel chuckled. "And here I thought that you couldn\'t go any lower."
Damien turned to look at the buff man who was standing behind him and narrowed his eyes.
Lord Godric acted as if he did not hear what Lexiel was saying and continued, "You know the rules. The seekers will look for the hiders, while the defenders will be in charge of keeping the hiders safe and sound. The one with the most bandanas at the end of the game will be the winner."
"But remember, this is not a battle to see who is better or best. This is just a part of your training; do not try to maim, kill, or hurt your guild members. If you are found killing your guild members, then you will be kicked out without a trial."

"Secondly, you are allowed to use your skills on your opponents, but only until you do not steal the bandana. Once you steal it, seize all attacks."
Soon, Lord Godric created defender teams who would be protecting the hiders from the seekers.
Damien turned to look at the beast men whom he did not even know and felt a headache. Was he really going to leave his safety in the hands of these people?
Could they even do it? He asked himself while looking at the beastmen in front of him.
