Chapter 1320: Safety

“Let’s break through!” the human commander excitedly said.

“Um...Big brother, why do you keep wanting to break through?” Lu Li asked, then continued to explain, “This is only the first squad. There are going to be more reinforcements. The longer we can hold here, the better.”

The commander then realised that Lu Li said he had called at least a thousand people for reinforcements.

He thought that Lu Li was bluffing for sure.

The Orc Shaman began to panic and hesitate after seeing that this was true. Or, it could be said that the Shaman was beginning to regret his decision to allow his subjects to recover. He should have prioritised the crushing defeat of these humans.

He still had a chance to relentlessly continue to attack the human forces.

If he commanded his forces to prioritise breaking down the defence line, they could achieve this before the reinforcements arrived. However, this would come at the cost of a great number of casualties. Once the reinforcements arrived, there was also no way that they would be left alive.

Furthermore, the reinforcements were cavalry!

As an Orc Shaman, no one would know the terrors of cavalry more than him. After all, the Orc Wolf Riders were one of the strongest forces in the land.

However, the Orc Shaman had mistaken the cavalry’s strength. These were the Paladins who had joined the Night Watch. They didn’t have any abilities that could be used while mounted. Compared to the Wolf Riders, these Paladins were also much weaker.

The Shaman feared the incoming reinforcements, but he was also reluctant to retreat.

“Do you reckon that they will retreat?”

The human commander had a bald head, but he wasn’t that old either. He looked to be around 30 years old, no less. This was a common look for Azeroth’s males.

“I’m not sure. Does the commander wish for them to retreat?” Lu Li asked.

“Let’s force them to retreat. Enough blood has been shed today,” he replied after hesitating for a short while.

“Alright then.”

Lu Li didn’t want to push him any further, since the commander already decided to put down his weapons for the day. After all, this wasn’t an Instance Dungeon, so they would lose experience upon death. The losses that they would have suffered if the Horde’s forces breached their defence line would be horrific anyway.

Drifting Rain received Lu Li’s commands.

The charging force of the cavalry instantly halted. The mounted knights then began to hit the ground in a consistent rhythm.

The atmosphere completely changed to when the reinforcements were charging. The Shaman suddenly realised another possibility. He thought that this was a preparation for a greater reinforcement to arrive after this first group. They would surround his forces and annihilate them.

With no hesitation, the Shaman instantly commanded one of his guards to sound the retreat horn.

The Blackrock Orcs followed the instructions and proceeded to group around the Shaman. Then, they retreated immediately, away from the reinforcements.

Lu Li breathed a sigh of relief. He was worried that the Orc Shaman was not smart enough to realise this.

It looked like the recent minor updates had improved the intelligence of these NPCS.

The reinforcements had no use in terms of fighting strength now, but their journey was not one without any fruit. After all, the strategies to attack the Upper Blackrock Spires had been devised. If they followed the strategies without fault, they would be able to kill a few Bosses.

Furthermore, now that they managed to save a few hundred human soldiers, they wouldn’t have any difficulty receiving a quest from Marshal Maxwell.

“I am Captain Bukmid. Many thanks to you and your friends.”

Captain Bukmid extended his hand to shake Lu Li’s.

“You’re welcome. It is our duty to do so,” Lu Li said, relaxing a little. After all, they were planning on tackling a whole army of Orcs with less than twenty people. In hindsight, that was a suicidal decision. The fact that they had managed to pull it off was nothing short of a miracle.

“You have saved our lives. I don’t have much to offer in terms of rewards,” Bukmid mumbled. His face paled a little after seeing the number of adventurers.

There was no way that he would be able to reward a few thousand people even after selling himself.

However, these adventurers could not go unrewarded, after all, they were his saviours. Otherwise, he would have lost his life, alongside the few hundred warriors with him. This would have led to the creation of a quest called “Captain Bukmid’s Revenge”, which would involve killing some Blackrock Orcs in remembrance of him.

“Money does not mean much to us. After all, equipment only improves exterior strength. We wish to increase our own strength, without equipment,” Lu Li said, with a serious face.

“Hey! Lu Pain in the Ass, what do you mean?”

Even Hachi Chan, a quest specialist, questioned Lu Li’s approach to this.

“It looks like he wants experience and fame instead,” Wandering said, then continued, “Gold doesn’t mean much as a reward, and equipment wouldn’t mean much since we have a few thousand here.”

This entire area was filled with people from Ruling Sword. These members even began to set up camp with barbecues, and soon, a delicious smell began to waft through the air.

The Captain continued to hesitate.

“How about going to Marshal Maxwell first? I have some of his quests to turn in,” Lu Li suddenly suggested.

The rewards that a Captain could give were quite limited. After all, their standing in the Stormwind military was not that high either.

However, Captain Bukmid was not expendable by any means. Marshal Maxwell might very well be quite grateful to Lu Li for saving Bukmid.

The rewards that a Marshal could give were much greater than a Captain.

Indeed, Bukmid would not be able to satisfy the thousands of people in front of him with his

rewards. As such, along with Lu Li’s forces, he and his forces tagged along and travelled towards Marshal Maxwell’s camp.

With this number of people, any monster was instantly annihilated if it did not escape. Even the Trolls from Burning Steppes disappeared.

The Southern Trolls specialised in magic. However, their bodies and physique were also quite strong. A stick-wielding Troll Mage would be able to kill a Dwarf Warrior.

This area was their territory. They would rob anyone who decided to walk upon this land, including the powerful Blackrock Orcs and Black Iron Dwarves. They were so daring that they would steal the corpses of the dragon-people from Nefarian’s experiments.

Before they even arrived at the camp, Lu Li already spotted Marshal Maxwell.

Maxwell jumped down from his horse and hugged Bukmid tightly. He then said as he rubbed his beard, “You missed our appointment time! I thought that you ran into trouble. Then, I heard from some people that you were surrounded by the Blackrock Orcs! It’s great that you are well!”

Lu Li’s mood was even better now!
