Chapter 512: Smile
Zetsu sighed in relief when Madra actually made it back to the world of the living. He half-expected Yuna to pull some ridiculous stunt and stop the revival. Now, the final phase of Zetsu’s plan could finally start.
Zetsu, who was still controlling Obito, took out a scroll and tossed it toward Madara. After unfurling it and injecting some chakra into it, a small glass vial filled with an unknown liquid appeared in Madara’s hand. Additionally, there was a single eye floating in said liquid.
Madara opened the container and fished out the eye, his eye, and casually put it into one of his empty eye sockets.
As soon as the Rinnegan resumed being part of his body, Madara could feel ridiculous amounts of power flooding his body.
“Hahaha, amazing! When I awakened the Rinnegan previously, I was already an old man, so I didn’t feel much of a difference in power, but this was on another level.
After regaining one of his eyes, Madara’s gaze landed on the still paralyzed Obito. Or, to be more precise, his gaze landed on the Rinnegan implanted into Obito’s eye sockets. After regaining his other Rinnegan, its true power will be revealed. Although one eye is already very powerful, only by having a complete set can they unleash 100% of their potential.
Naturally, Black Zetsu knew what Madara wanted and immediately started manipulating Obito’s body to pluck out his own eye. Although Obito was resisting Black Zetsu with everything he had, how could he possibly resist the will of a being like Black Zetsu?
Yuna saw what was happening in front of her and didn’t intervene. In fact, she was still happily absorbing the Juubi’s chakra. However, when she noticed that Madara was about to regain his second eye, she decided to intervene.
“Oi, Obito, the way Rin died, wasn’t that a little weird?”
As soon as these words left Yuna’s mouth, everyone’s attention was on her, causing her to smirk.
“You see, why would Kakashi kill her? No matter how you looked at it, you had already infested him with your ideology when it happened. Why would Kakashi kill his comrade? It just doesn’t make any sense, right?”
Although Obito wanted to nod in agreement, he could only grit his teeth while his battle of wills against Zetsu continued.
Frankly, he had always found it bizarre that Kakashi killed Rin, but at the end of the day, he didn’t care for the reason and stopped thinking about it. No matter how he looked at the situation, Kakashi killed Rin. That was all that mattered.
Yuna easily saw through Obito’s emotional turmoil and pressed onward.
“Suspicious as that may be, there is something about this incident that makes it even weirder.”
Obito couldn’t help but grit his teeth when he heard Yuna’s words. He could more or less guess what she was talking about.
“How in the world did you arrive there at the exact moment Kakashi’s attack pierced through Rin? No matter how I look at it, that is too ridiculous of a coincidence.”
Yes, that has been bothering Obito for quite a while now. Previously, he had no idea why or how anyone could arrange something like that, but now things were slightly different as one aspect of his mindset had changed: He no longer considered Madara as an ally.
Previously discarded puzzle pieces clicked into place as the whole picture appeared inside Obito’s mind, causing him to clench his teeth so hard that they almost were ground into dust.
“Madara, did you instigate this whole incident?”
Also, he spoke calmly; there was a lot of anger hidden inside his voice. However, Madara couldn’t help but sneer at him when he heard that question.
“Took you long enough to realize. Yes, I’ve always been raising you to be my obedient puppet, and since I wanted you to impersonate me, you obviously needed a Mangekyou Sharingan. Having your best friend kill the person you love right in front of you was the easiest way for you to get it.”
If Obito hadn’t already awakened his Sharingan, he would have probably accumulated enough hatred to awaken it another two times.
“MADARA!!!”
Pure hatred oozed out of his body as he glared at Madara, hoping nothing more than for him to be set ablaze by his gaze alone.
Despite being blinded by rage, Obito knew precisely what needed to be done. Instead of directing his anger at Madara, he fully concentrated it on Black Zetsu, allowing him to push back his will and regain partial control of his body.
Obito roared like a mad beast, as ripple patterns appeared around him, causing Madara’s eye to widen in surprise.
“Shit, he wants to run away in his own dimension!”
Unfortunately, Yuna blocked his path before he could intervene in Obito and Black Zetsu’s situation.
“Now, now, should we leave the best stuff for last?”
Madara scoffed in disdain as he fully activated the power of his Rinnegan, allowing him to absorb the Juubi at an insane pace.
Unlike Yuna, who had to literally rip the Natural Energy out of the Juubi, Madara had a much easier time due to the Juubi’s compatibility with Madara’s Rinnegan.
Yuna could interrupt him, but that would just be bad manners. She might have no shame, but even Yuna wouldn’t do something as outrageous as interrupting someone’s powering-up scene.
A few seconds later, the Juubi was gone, and only Madara remained. However, this Madara looked completely different from his original form.
His whole body was wrapped in a white cloak with black tomoe decorating its upper half. He had long, white, spiky hair and horns on his forehead that almost looked like a shinobi forehead protector. Finally, ten black orbs were floating behind him, forming a circle.
Madara clenched and unclenched his fists in excitement. He had never felt this powerful before.
“So this is the power of the Sage of Six Path. Truly remarkable.”
After getting a feel for his new body, his gaze wandered and finally landed on Yuna.
“Although I would have liked to continue our dance, I fear this is over. I can no longer be defeated.”
Madara flared his chakra, causing the earth to shake. Obviously, he tried to intimidate Yuna, but instead of fear, a totally different facial expression greeted him.
A smile.
